There’s nothing quite like a cup of tea and homemade cake to banish those winter blues, so this February all three of our restaurants will be offering a free cup of loose leaf tea with any slice of carrot cake, Victoria or chocolate sponge. Once you have purchased all three, then you will be able to enjoy another free slice of cake and hot drink on us.

Pick up a loyalty card at The Apple Tree, The Engine Room or The Walled Garden and remember to ask the team to check it off each time you visit!

Our kitchen and front of house team at The Engine Room Restaurant deserve a huge pat on the back for their continued hard work, which has led to us being awarded Silver in the Taste of the West Hospitality and Retail Awards 2016. Up against stiff competition from around the region in the Restaurant category, the judges described The Engine Room as a “well patronised restaurant” and commended us for our “friendly and welcoming staff and delightful desserts.”

This is a fantastic result for the whole team and has given us all a real boost!

You may have noticed the giant plant pots that have appeared outside Poundbury Gardens in recent weeks. They are now planted up with olive trees and are providing a grand entrance to The Engine Room Restaurant on the edge of Queen Mother Square. Each pot is more than 2 cubic metres and it took a staggering 190 bags of John Innes compost to fill them, which was kindly supplied by Westland Horticulture. On Friday 13 May, we were delighted to show the pots to HRH The Prince of Wales, who stopped by to admire them during his visit to Poundbury, which is a Duchy of Cornwall development. We are pleased to report that he was suitably impressed with our new addition to the garden centre and even took the time to wish us a happy birthday in our 10th year.
