This morning we were given the wonderful news that Plankbridge received a four-star award for its wildlife friendly tradestand exhibit at RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The beautiful Victorian-inspired shepherd’s hut, which was lovingly built in Piddlehinton, is surrounded with some of the season’s best pollinator-friendly plants, including Foxgloves, Bugloss and Primula beesiana, which Nicky and the team have been carefully nurturing in the polytunnels at Castle Gardens.

Wildlife friendly gardening is something that we love to champion and encourage gardeners of all ages to embrace, so we jumped at the chance to help Plankbridge create this wildlife friendly space alongside the Dorset Wildlife Trust Forest School, who built two bug hotels for the exhibit. We wish Richard and Jane all the best for the rest of the week and hope that their efforts will inspire visitors to think about wildlife when they are planning their gardens.

The Plankbridge Wildlife Watch shepherd’s hut will be on display at Tradestand AR586 from Tuesday 23 – Saturday 27 May 2017.

Our good at friends Plankbridge have been exhibiting at RHS Chelsea Flower Show this week. Richard and Jane created a garden kitchen inside one if their classic shepherd’s huts. We were lucky enough to be involved, providing blueberry shrubs and mint to set the scene for this garden kitchen, what’s more, Liz from The Walled Garden Restaurant made blueberry cakes, which were enjoyed by journalists, celebrities and presenters on Press Day.

Lucy Simpson gets blueberry shrubs ready for RHS Chelsea Flower Show small

You may remember that last year we were asked by Richard and Jane at Plankbridge to help put the finishing touches on their Tradestand Exhibit at RHS Chelsea Flower Show providing beautiful marguerites and lavender. Well we are delighted to announce that Lucy Simpson, who manages Poundbury Gardens is currently nurturing some blueberry shrubs, borage and mint ready for Plankbridge to take to the UK’s most prestigious flower show, when they return on Tuesday 19 – Saturday 23 May 2015.

This year Plankbridge is taking a micro-kitchen inside a shepherd’s hut with the idea being for keen gardeners, foragers and experimental cooks to enjoy produce from their garden or allotments at its absolute freshest. Our plants will help set the scene at Chelsea and will hopefully inspire visitors to grow their own fruit and vegetables, as well as a variety of ornamental plants and flowers.

If you’re lucky enough to be visiting RHS Chelsea Flower Show this year, then please do stop by Tradestand PLW/1 to see the fruits of Lucy’s labours.

You may remember a few weeks back we were cultivating lavender and marguerites for Plankbridge to take to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and add the finishing touches to its shepherd’s hut exhibit. We wanted to share some of the images of the hut at the UK’s leading flower show – Jane and Richard will be there until Saturday 24 May.

Dorset-based Plankbridge Hutmakers has enlisted our help to put the finishing touches to a very special shepherd’s hut that the team is making to showcase at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May. We are currently cultivating calming lavender and vibrant marguerites to line the wrought iron window boxes on this special ‘gardener’s sanctuary’. It’s not long now until the most prestigious flower show in the UK, but this glorious sunshine is giving the flowers a good start. We can’t wait to see the finished product, which I’m sure will draw a lot of green-fingered folk over during the show.
