Help us name our resident reindeer at Poundbury Gardens.

Say hello to Jingle the reindeer

Throughout November, visitors to Poundbury Gardens have been greeted by our resident three metre tall woven reindeer. We asked everyone that came to the garden centre and restaurant to come up with a creative name for him… and after much deliberation, we decided that the most fitting name for our festive friend is Jingle, as suggested by 12 year old Mya from Poundbury.

Follow Jingle’s journey on Facebook throughout December and see if you can identify the various places that he visits on his way back to Lapland.

The Apple Tree Farm Shop and Restaurant team

At the end of 2013 we made some significant changes to The Apple Tree Restaurant at Brimsmore Gardens, making it more in line with our ethos, which is all about championing the very best in local producers, growers and butchers. The new menu and culture has been well received by our customers, who can be sure of truly local food, as everything is now labelled on the menu. As an added bonus, we have won yet more awards, including Gold at the Taste of the West Awards 2014.

To celebrate the first anniversary of our re-launch we’re serving petit fours with all hot drinks this autumn, so please come in, enjoy and say a huge happy birthday to The Apple Tree Restaurant.

With the arrival of our Christmas trees next week, it’s looking, feeling and smelling a lot like Christmas at our three centres. From Gluten Free Christmas at The Apple Tree Restaurant on Thursday 4 December and a New Year’s Eve party at The Engine Room, to festive treasure hunts and after school story time every Friday in December, we’re keeping gardeners of all ages entertained this December.

This year we’re collecting your letters to Father Christmas and the deadline is Saturday 6 December, so make sure your wish list gets to him in time. You can also tell him in person as Father Christmas will be at Poundbury Gardens every Saturday and Sunday in December, as well as Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 December. He will then be accepting visitors at Castle Gardens during our late night shopping week from Monday 15 December and will be there right up until Christmas Eve. Visit our events page or ask in store for more information and timings.

Help us name our resident reindeer at Poundbury Gardens.

If you’ve visited Poundbury Gardens this week, you may have noticed our newest resident looking out over Queen Mother Square. The three metre tall woven reindeer was gifted to us and now needs a name in time for Christmas. We are calling on you to help us name the reindeer before he or she embarks on a trip back to Lapland in December, a journey you can follow on Facebook as we count down to Christmas.

Naming slips can be found at Poundbury Gardens and The Engine Room Restaurant. The winner, who’ll receive a hamper of Christmas decorations, will be announced on Friday 21 November.
